About 'ca colleges and universities'|Haunted Southern College & University Buildings - Alabama and Florida








The               new               school               year               has               just               begun,               but               high               school               juniors               and               seniors,               as               well               as               their               parents,               are               considering               their               future               education.

They               are               deciding               where               they               will               go               to               college               and               trying               to               find               ways               to               pay               for               it.

According               to               a               statement               released               on               PR               Newswire,               the               company               CollegiateZone               is               trying               to               help.

The               cost               of               higher               education               continues               to               skyrocket.

For               example,               one               year               of               tuition,               room               and               board               for               a               state               resident               at               the               University               of               Texas               will               cost               $14,000               this               year;               a               year               at               Harvard               now               costs               $40,000.

With               costs               at               some               schools               nearing               the               amount               of               many               parents'               annual               income,               the               need               for               scholarships,               grants,               and               other               forms               of               financial               aid               has               never               been               greater.
               In               spite               of               this               need,               every               year,               millions               of               dollars               in               college               funding               goes               unused               because               guidance               counselors,               parents               and               students               aren't               aware               of               it               and               colleges               haven't               had               a               resource               available               to               them               that               identifies               qualifying               students.

And               while               there               are               resources               meant               to               address               this               issue,               such               as               the               "Paying               for               College               Student               Resource               Guide"               by               U.S.

Congresswoman               Lucille               Roybal-Allard               (D-CA),               the               information               can               be               difficult               to               find,               especially               the               various               application               deadlines.
               CollegiateZone               attempts               to               fill               this               need               by               providing               college               development               tools               via               three               diverse               services.

Using               their               Topquest               service,               students               are               able               to               search               more               than               900,000               scholarships,               grants               and               awards,               worth               over               $4.5               billion,               and               get               matched               based               on               their               academic               and               personal               criteria.
               "Topquest               is               a               unique,               all-in-one               web-based               system               that               offers               students               development               tools               to               find               the               right               opportunities               for               college,"               Stu               Scandridge,               CollegiateZone               founder               and               CEO               said               in               the               press               release.
               Topquest               allows               high               school               students               and               college               transfers               to               search,               match               and               apply               to               multiple               colleges,               as               well               as               match               to               funding               with               just               a               few               clicks.

The               elaborate               search               logic               tool               gives               students               more               specific               detailed               search-match               results               and               qualifies               them               based               on               their               SAT,               ACT,               GPA               and               class               ranking,               and               their               personal               criteria.

Students               apply               to               colleges               using               the               one-time,               online               CollegiateZone               National               Common               Application               which               is               used               to               auto-fill               multiple               college               applications               and               the               Free               Application               for               Federal               Student               Aid               form.
               Topscholar               and               Topjock               are               services               that               feature               enhanced               self-marketing               tools               for               performing               arts               and               science               students               and               athletes               who               want               to               continue               their               talent               in               college.
               "Topjock               helped               me               get               noticed,"               student               Sarah               Hunsicker,               who               used               the               service               to               search               for               an               opportunity               to               play               volleyball               and               created               an               online               profile               with               video,               audio,               photos,               and               newspaper               clippings,               said               in               the               statement.

"The               process               was               easier               and               less               expensive               than               other               companies.

Had               it               not               been               for               this               service,               I               probably               wouldn't               be               playing               college               volleyball               today               on               a               scholarship."
               Colleges               and               universities               have               begun               using               Topquest               to               post               and               manage               their               scholarships               and               grants               in               the               CollegiateZone               database.

They               are               also               using               the               system               to               find               students               that               match               their               curriculum               and               meet               their               scholarship               and               grant               requirements,               especially               those               that               go               unused.
